Today was a very long day, we started by getting up around 3:30 am. Since it was cheaper to get a Taxi rather than park our car at the airport for 8 days, we got a car. He showed up at 4:30 am with a black stretch limo. He said it was easier since he was already out than to go back and switch the cars. The kids loved it, especially the lights that changed colors in the roof and behind the bar.
We got to the gate about 5:15 for a 6:30 flight. They started to board around 6 am. We flew Jet Blue, so everyone had a personal TV. We had a really nice flight. After we landed we waited to everyone got off and then we asked if Donald could see the cockpit. They said sure, so off he went. I waited just outside the plane for about 5 minutes and then I looked in, he was having the time of his life and the pilot was explaining everything to him. I didn't have the camera, because it was packed, but he was there for about 10 minutes, so I had time to get the camera out and take a few pictures.
After we got Donald out of the cockpit, we headed for Coney Island and to Nathan's for a hotdog. We got to CI about 10am, so after Nathan's the kids played on the playgrounds for an hour, we walked the boardwalk and out onto the pier. Unfortunately, it looked like someone had drowned, as there were allot of Fire Trucks, Helicopters, Boats, Divers searching the water for a few hours.
At Noon the amusement park opened and the kids each road 6 rides. Donald wanted to go on the Big Wheel, and I got stuck going with him because he wanted to ride one of the cars that moves. The girls wanted nothing to do with it. He laughed the whole ride, he really loved it when the car would move and rock and roll. Heather and Donald rode most of the rides together, Heather rode the one Dragon rollercoaster twice.
After Coney Island we went and checked into our hotel in Hauppauge on Long Island and then headed to Naomi's Grandpa's for dinner. We went to a local pizza place, Mama's. The pizza was great, we split 3 pizzas between the 5 of us. One cheese, one pepperoni & black olives and one anchovies. We ate them all, the kids ate the anchovies and never even asked what it was. I guess when you have been on fast food/pizza restriction for a month, you will eat anything shaped like a pizza :)
It was a nice day, just very long. Naomi and I were ready for bed by 2 pm, but the kids never slowed down. In fact, after we put them to bed around 8:30. We checked on them about 15 minutes later and they had turned on the TV and were up bouncing around. After that, we left the door open between the bedroom and living room.
