We had a great day today. We started by walking to the Empire State Building via Macy's. We had not planned Macy's , but we were on 34th street and just happened to see it. "Miracle on 34th Street" is my all time favorite movie (original version B/W). Then we went on to the Empire State Building and took the tour to the top (86th floor) the top-top (102st) was closed. After the ESB, we took a Taxi to the world trade center. Funny they have a map on the back of the seat which clearly marked our origination and destination as being a straight line down 6th street, but the Taxi went backwards at one point and to the east coast of Manhattan, clearly the longest possible route.
At the WTC, we went up to the 107 floor restaurant and had a light lunch. Katie had a turkey club, water and coke. I had a Cobb salad & coke. It was $53. The cokes (2 refills) were $16.80 alone. NYC sure is expensive. After lunch we walked to Chinatown, then Little Italy and Greenwich Village. Katie did a little shopping which made her happy.
From there we took the subway to Central Park. We walked around a little then took a buggy ride around the park. It was nice to see a bit of the park without having to walk around the whole thing. We then took a taxi back to the hotel, where we got ready to go to the show.
Katie wanted to go to Beauty & the Beast, but b/c I wasn't sure about our schedule, I decided to just wait until we were ready. As it turns out, they did not have a Sunday evening show, so we went to "Tony n Tina's Wedding". It was a riot, we had a good time. It was sort of like a real wedding and reception. We started at a church and then walked about 2 blocks up a "restaurant". They did a open bar and put on a good show, plus you got dinner too. It was really fun. I know Katie loved it too. The crowd becomes part of the show. Katie danced and we sang. Would recommend it to anyone. It might not be great for kids though.
That's about it for NYC, going to Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island in the morning before leaving town.
