We left Las Vegas a little late (got more sleep), so we got to the LA area about 1 PM.
We unloaded the car and headed for the Jay Leno show. Stopped at the Hollywood Bowl for a
few shots, even got one with my NB through the back door of the bowl!!! Unfortunately,
they would not allow cameras at the Leno show, so mine stayed in the car after a few shots
in the waiting room. We sat in the upper deck about middle stage, 2nd row. I was wearing
my Tie-dyed beetle shirt.
Jay came out and talked to the crowd about 30 minutes before air time and asked if anyone
had any questions. Katie jumped up and asked for a picture and he replied "come on
down". Katie then lost a shoe under the row in front of us. Jay was asking her
questions when I went down to find the shoe. When she said she was from Roswell, GA, Jay
replied "the one with the aliens, oh I see you have one with you!!!" (talking
about me with my Tye-died shirt). Then she got lost going down to the stage, and he cut up
the whole time. Jay & some of the crowd made some comments about how she
"bounced" down the stairs. Then when she was on stage he asked her what
she did for a living. She replied "I'm a student", to which he replied "oh,
where do you go to school?" She replied "I'm in High School". He
backed up about 3 feet after every question about age and grade, he intentionally got
further and further away. The crowd loved it, so did I. Total he gave her about 5 minutes
of time and was really great. I took the Polaroid they gave her and shot a pix with my
camera, it is on the web site.
Unfortunately all this was off air, so there was no opportunity to give Rick & Bubba a
shout out, sorry guys. The show was great, had the animals and stuff. Jay was really great
to the audience, I was not expecting him to be so down to earth. He was so involved in
what was going on between commercials, not the stereotype "star attitude".
Then we went to Mann's Chinese theater and bought 10:30 PM tickets for Star Wars, then
drove over to take pix of the Hollywood sign and came back for the wax museum &
Guinness World Records, some pix of the stars and stuff. Katie's favorite actress is Doris
Day, she watches "Pillow Talk" at least monthly. She also got her hands in
cement and a couple of magazine covers, I can shot pix later for everyone.
Finally, we watched Star Wars. The theater was great, the sound and vibration (whatever
they call that) was wonderful. I took a few pix during the show and of the inside of the
theater. We got back to cousin Ann's house at 1:45am. Therefore, I did not build the site
until this morning.
Will be leaving in about an hour to go to TVA in Brea, Ca for lunch with Randy and
southern California NB people.
It was a great day, it does not get much better than this, but we will try. Maybe I can
get Katie to post her impression of the day if she ever wakes up. A funny thing, Katie was
complaining about her shoes & every time we passed a shoe store she would ask to stop
and buy new ones. She said she was throwing them away as soon as we got home. Then Jay
joked about her losing one, and when she finally got to the stage, his first comment was
"Those are nice looking shoes". After the show, I asked if she was still
throwing them away. She is keeping them. lol
