Day 1 of 14

We started the day at 4:30 am and got on the road to Memphis,  TN at 5:45 am. We had a nice drive of a little more than 4 hours with no problems. When we got to Memphis we went to the Pink Palace Museum including the IMAX and planetarium. The Nature History and rocks and stuff were cool, the planetarium was cool, the IMAX on Egypt was lame. Afterwards we headed for Mud Island and went through the Mississippi River Museum, saw the Memphis Belle, walk the scale model of the Mississippi, which is 30 inches / mile, 1000 miles long. Took a few pictures of the Pyramid and then headed over to get a closer look. The pyramid is sooo silver the sun really reflects off of it.

Once we checked out the location of the morning photo shot, we headed for the hotel (The Peabody) around 3:30 pm.  We checked in and relaxed for an hour or so, and then headed for the lobby for the duck show. It was so crowded I couldn't get close enough for a picture and I still have not mastered low-light pictures:(  After the parade of ducks, we checked out the duck stores in the hotel and then headed to the roof to view the ducks in their penthouse retreat.

After a brief rest, we headed for Rafferty's for dinner and to meet up with the eastern caravan. We had a great time and lined up all the bugs for a photo op. Dinner was good, conversation was interesting. I got to see many old friends from last summer, it was nice to put faces to names again.

After dinner, we went back out to give away Herbies to the newcomers and a few pictures in the dark.  We then planed to take a carriage ride and head to BB King's for the evening, but by the time we got back to downtown, it was after 11pm and raining real hard, so we called it a night.

In the morning we go back to the Pyramid for a photo op about 8:30 am and head for Dallas, TX. Well it is 1:30 am, time for bed:)
